The Word

The Word is like a seed, it has life inside it… all it needs is to be planted and nurtured. Today you are going to plant the word inside yourself, right in your heart. Will you nurture it?

Scriptures:
Luke 8:11
“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.”

Luke 8:15
But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Thoughts:

Today you will plant the seed of the word of God in your heart and it will be like a light in the darkness. Did you ever think about how a seed goes into the darkness under the earth? That is what planting does, it buries the seed inside a dark place. But the seed struggles towards the light, it was created through light, and in the light it grew, and now it struggles to makes its way to the light again. If the seed does not get to the light before its stored up substance is spent, it will disappear; but if its seedform dies and the sprout reaches the light while the root reaches the moisture in the ground… you have a living plant!

Maybe you need strength:
Nehemiah 8:10
“the joy of the Lord is your strength”

Maybe you need financial help:
Psalm 111:5
He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.

Find the scripture that answers your need,or your family’s need… plant it inside your heart today.

Activity:
3×5 cards, pretty curling ribbon, paper punch.

Punch two holes in the card to thread the ribbon through, use enough ribbon to tie into a pretty bow. Each person writes a scripture for the season on the card and hangs it on your tree.

Or on a “cookie tree”: Plant a branch inside a flower pot filled with clay or plaster. When dry, hang your scripture cards on it. Let your scripture “grow” inside your heart throughout the advent weeks before Christmas.

Replace your worries with hope.
