(17) Lo, I Am With You Always

Many people give gift baskets of food to the needy at this time of year. Ask your church if they are doing this, or find a community program your family can participate in.

Scripture:
From the Amplified version, Hebrews 13:5
He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! Assuredly not!

The entire verse from the NIV:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

Thoughts:
The love of God was displayed through Jesus from the time he was sent to earth, through his earthly ministry, to this very day. When we light the candles of Advent this week, and consider the love of God, today let us meditate on the fact that God promises that he will not leave us or forsake us. He will not find something better to do, or someone better to be with, he will not decide we aren’t what was wanted, after all. He won’t find something more pressing, more interesting, or more important than being with us in relationship and in guidance. He won’t withhold himself from us. He won’t cut us off, or leave us behind. God will be there with us, and for us, in a way we can always count upon.

He promised.

Everyone else may let us down, but not God.

Ornament: a little basket, to remind us of God’s provision for us.
